Surgical Correction of Gummy Smile due to the Vertical Maxillary Excess: A Report of Case

Abstract
The lips & mouth play an important part in the appearance.
Normally, in the function of the smile, the lips are retracted and elevated to expose a portion of the upper incisor teeth, In some cases, the lips retraction is too extreme and it exposes all the incisors plus large portion of gingiva above.
This
produces the so-called "horse smile" or "gummy smile". The basic skeletal deformity is an excess in the vertical dimension of the maxilla.
So, introduction of the Le Fort I osteotomy and report of a case will be presented as an example of clinical application.
